Anyone who has visited a working forge will immediately identify with this scene. A blacksmith shoes a patient horse, both are occupied with the task in hand and comfortable with one another. The modelling and casting of this piece is exceptional. The sculptor knows his subject well and portrays both the man and the horse as believable forms using the colour of the bronze and its golden patination as an accent. This looks tremendous on a windowsill or placed in front of a mirror.
