Often seen on the Antiques Roadshow, netsuke are miniature carved figures, used in olden times as toggles on traditional costumes in Japan. We found a craftsman sitting in front of his house in China, carving these superlative pieces by hand with boundless patience and unbelievable skill. Made from calamander wood, these enchanting creations make wonderful collectibles for your shelf. Out of this hard timber comes a rabbit, two tiny puppies playing and two exotic birds on a tree stump. In keeping with custom, each little treasure is drilled with two holes, which provided the fastening for the cord in olden times. Because each is individually carved for you, no two are exactly alike and therefore are unique. Each comes in a spectacular gift box.
